Royce Lee Gwatney, 56, of Conway died Thursday (Aug. 1, 2002) at his home.
He was born June 8, 1946, in Conway, the son of Chester Lee and Mary Celestine Metrailer Gwatney. He worked during his life for Lasley Acoustical and Drywall for many years, Trent Sheet Metal Co. many years, Covington Roofing and Sheet Metal Co., and was a teacher's assistant in the Conway School District's vocational center teaching in the area of building trades.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hensley Gwatney; two sons, Rodney Lee Gwatney and wife Sherry of North Little Rock; and Jon David Gwatney and wife Jennifer of Conway; two daughters, Amanda Jane Gwatney Lentz and husband Wade of Conway, and Anna Elizabeth Gwatney Thorpe and husband Steven of Conway; one brother, Robert Gwatney of Conway; three sisters, Virginia Sielert of Orange Park, Fla.; Evelyn Stephens of Sapulpa, Okla.; and Jane Duke of Conway; five grandchildren, Emily Gwatney, Derek Gwatney, Ashley Gwatney, Kayleigh Gwatney and Steven Miguel Luke Thorpe.

Funeral services will be held at Beryl Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday with Brother Gary Pridemore of Beryl Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his nephews and close friends.
