1916 - 1998
Mrs. Lucille Rhode Carpenter, 81, of Jacksonville, sister of Byrd Evelyn Shock of Conway, died Monday (March 16, 1998) at Jacksonville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1916, in Fort Worth, Texas, daughter of Fred Dare and Hannah Hockersmith Rhode, she was the widow of J. D. Carpenter. She was also a retired agent-telegrapher for Missouri-Pacific Railroad and a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, the National Association of Railway Businesswomen and Ouachita Lodge-B.R.A.C.
Other survivors include a son, David Carpenter of Boshnell, Fla.; another sister, Martha Jene Murphree of Greenville, Mich.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
