Irise Irene Helton Posey, 95, of Conway passed away Friday, February 26, 2016. She was born Friday, January 21, 1921 in Altus, Arkansas to the late James and Anna Bell “Dolly” Moody Helton, a full blood Tiskamogi Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, James Arnold Helton, Neely Helton, Pat Helton, Nathan Helton, and Pete Helton; Three sisters, Dovie Speights, Callie Mae Lachowsky, and Opal Brewer.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Alice Helton of Conway, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved and will miss her dearly.
She served as an elder for the Arkansas Cherokee Nation AKA Tiskamogi Cherokee of Arkansas. She was a Baptist and a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church of Conway.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Bro. James Isaac officiating. Harold Helton, Danny Helton, Ronnie Brewer, Chance Junyor, Ted Widen, and Lewis Moore will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday, February, 29, 2016 at the funeral home.
