Mr. Lee Edward "Cheeze" White, 84, of Conway, died Monday. Mr. White was born July 11, 1923, in Conway to the late James Henry and Gertrude (Smith) White.

Mr. White served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, on the USS Pope. He was a construction supervisor for Nabholz Construction for nearly 40 years. Lee was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and quail hunter and was the world's best grandpa.

Lee is survived by his wife of 61 years, Melvenia (Southerland) White of Conway; son, Don White and wife Nancy of Argyle, Texas; and daughter, Marilyn White of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Jason White of Weatherford, Texas, and Jennifer Hanley and husband Chad of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Bill White of Conway, Geneva Stephens and Bill of Conway, Joe White and Edna of Neosho, Mo., Dan White and Sue of Conway and Jim White and Margaret of North Little Rock.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Naomi Starkey; and an infant daughter, Linda Lee White.

Pallbearers will be Bob Tyler, Matt Schichtl, Delbert Barrett, Charles Nabholz, Mark Seiter and David Nabholz.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Larry White. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
