Ida Burns Elementary School was named in 1956 for Ida L. Burns, who taught 44 years as an elementary school teacher in the Conway School District. Her teaching career began in 1899 and went through 1903 when she resigned. She later returned for 40 more years of teaching, beginning in 1910 and ending in 1950. The original building was constructed in 1955, with buildings added in 1964, 1975 and 1992.
