Russell Lee "Mikey" Flippin, 69, of Cotter passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 in Cotter. He was born February 8, 1946 in Gassville to Russell and Lois (Morrison) Flippin. "Mikey" retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 2012. He served as a sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous for over thirty years. He loved his family very much and especially enjoyed going to Zach's basketball games. Whenever possible, he could be found sitting on his front porch.
"Mikey" is survived by his wife, Barbara (Harmon) Flippin of the home; three sons, Michael Lynn Flippin of Mountain Home, Douglas Wayne Flippin of Cotter and Brian Lee Doherty of Midway; two daughters, Melanie Grayham and Emily Flippin of Cotter; nine grandchildren, Mason Wayne, Paden Wyatt and Zachary Adam Flippin, Bethany Christian Parker, Paisley Doherty, Kara Danielle Flippin, Autumn Kristine Gillam and Brenna and Tessa Grayham; three brothers, Howard Flippin (Barbara) of Mountain Home, Gary Emory Flippin (Paula) of Mountain Home and Tony Clay Flippin (Jodi) of Gassville; two sisters, Linda Sue Knight of Mountain Home and Patty Sindlinger (Leon) of Viola; special friend, Mark Williams; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Lynn Flippin and one sister Cheryl Annette Flippin.
A visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Funeral services will be Friday, November 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Gassville Baptist Church under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home with Ronnie Thomas officiating. Pallbearers will be Zach Flippin, Brian Doherty, Doug Flippin, Keith Knight, Greg Knight, Paden Flippin and Tim Duff. Burial will follow at Gassville Cemetery.
