When Dr. James Madison Muse was born on August 28, 1867, his father, Berry, was 23 and his mother, Anna, was 19. He married Lillie Elizabeth Sammons and they had five children together. He then married Celeste "Lessie" E Thayer and they had eight children together. He died on February 25, 1936, in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 68, and was buried there.
