Marion Powers Dow was the son of Marion E. Dow and Kate Bell Powers Dow. He was born at Mt. Vernon, AR on May 24, 1914. He was preceded in death by siblings Raymond Dow and Sara Dow Fortson. He died at Conway Regional Medical Center on September 12, 1998. Powers was a pilot for Natural Gas Pipeline Co.

Survivors were his wife, Gladys Turner Dow, a daughter, LeJean Dow Hart of Conway; three grandchildren, Thomas Hart of Glendale, CA, Scott Hart of Somerville, MA, Jenny Hart of Austin, TX, and great-granddaughter Jessica Hart of Villeneuve St. Georges, France. Other survivors include brothers Wainrite Dow and wife Erkle of Conway and Bob Dow and wife Carolyn of Collinsville, IL.

Gladys T. Dow, 94, of Conway died Thursday June 15, 2006 at her home in Conway. She was born March 13, 1912 to the late M. Crite and Nola Crye Turner. Her husband of 64 years, M. Powers Dow, preceded her in death. (1998).

She is survived by a daughter, LeJean Hart of Conway; grandchildren, Thomas of Glendale, California, Scott of Somerville, Massachusetts, Jenny of Austin, Texas, great-granddaughter Jessica Hart of Villeneuve St. Georges, France and one sister, Myrtle Lee Selig of Conway. Other survivors include brothers-in-law Wainrite Dow and wife Erkle of Conway and Bob Dow and wife Carolyn of Collinsville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by son-in-law Lyle Hart, sisters Ruth Randle, Louise Abernathy and Emma Gene Logan and brother Coy Turner.

She graduated from Conway High School where she was active in drama and a charter member of Peppers Club. She was chosen most popular girl and held various class offices. After completing a business course at Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA), she was employed in Conway at the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Mid-South Association and served as Deputy Circuit Clerk. She was a lifelong Baptist.

As an avid newspaper reader, she maintained strong, informed opinions about current events, especially politics. Her knowledge and remarkable memory of Conway history and sharing of stories was enjoyed by family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery. John Greer, friend and former neighbor and pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will conduct the service. Memorials may be made to the Gladys Dow Memorial fund, 5 Oakdale Dr. Conway, AR 72034, for the upkeep of Cadron Ridge (Stone) and Cadron Gap Cemeteries.
