Mrs. Nellie Fay Ward Stringfellow, 64, of Conway, died Monday (May 28, 2001) at Conway Regional Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1937, in Lewisville (Lafayette County), daughter of the late William C. and Lily Mae Stone Ward, she was a dental insurance clerk and a Baptist.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Hershel Wayne Ward; and a sister, Jean "Minnie" Toms.
Survivors are her husband, Alvis E. Stringfellow; a son, Morgan E. Welch of Conway; a daughter, Dana Harris of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Grover E. Ward of Clarksville, Tenn., Roger C. Ward of Broken Bow, Okla., and Robert Ward of Greenbrier; three sisters, Mary F. Elledge of Cotton Valley, La., Ruby Warren of Gurdon and Beatrice White of Rogers; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway. Burial will be by Griffin Leggett-Conway.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alvis Earl Stringfellow, 61, of Conway, known by many as "Buddy," died Thursday (May 27, 2004) at a local nursing home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1942 at Searcy, Ark., a son of the late Alvin Alexander "String" Stringfellow. He was retired from Sysco Foods. Alvis was Baptist.
He enjoyed going to the cabin with his wife, Nellie (Ward) Stringfellow, who preceded him in death, and he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. His family remembers some of their fondest memories with Alvis as the Sunday dinner and special holidays, with steak, ribs, chicken and dumplings and banana pudding being some of his favorite foods.
Mr. Stringfellow is survived by his children, Laura Denise Cooley and Alton Leon Edwards, both of Beebe, Dana Harris of Arlington, Texas, Morgan Welch of Conway; his mother, Nancy Stringfellow of Greenbrier; his sisters, Thelma Marandola of Cranston, R.I., and Kay McClain of Conway; grandchildren, Hunter Cooley of Beebe, Jackie and Colin Welch, Monica Settle and Calvin Crain, all of Conway, Jessamyn and Justin Harris of Arlington, Texas; and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 29, in the East Room of Griffin Leggett-Conway.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove Cemetery with Ernie Baldwin, eulogist, under the direction of Griffin Leggett-Conway Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, Ark., 72034, 501-327-5000.
Pallbearers will be Blake McClain, Brian McClain, Michael Green, Buddy Allen, Morgan Welch and Calvin Crain.
