Jewel B. Kent Blankenship, daughter of the late John F. and Rosa D. Smith Kent, was born on May 11, 1912, in Newburg. She died January 4, 2003, in Newburg. She was 90.
Mrs. Blankenship was united in marriage to Lonnie T. Blankenship on August 5, 1933, at Chapel Hill.
During her working years, Jewel was a school teacher, and she was also a postmaster at Forty-Four.
Survivors include one brother, Herman J. Kent of East Wentachee, Washington, one nephew, Kenny Kent of Melbourne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Ethel Brockwell and one brother, Junie B. Kent
