Funeral services for Frankie Wayne Kennedy, 15, of Smackover were held in the Maple Avenue Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Lewis E. Clarke officiating. Rev. W. J. Taylor will assist. Kennedy was injured Sunday in a one-car crash between Norphlet and Sandyland and died in a local hospital at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday. Kennedy was born Dec. 1, 1949 in Smackover and was the son of W. F. and Iverne McKnight Kennedy. He was a lifelong resident of Smackover. Survivors include his father; his stepmother, Mrs. Martha Oliver Kennedy of Smackover; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Ann Sweet of El Dorado; one half brother, James Ralph Kennedy of Smackover; three half sisters, Faye Laverne Kennedy, Lynn Kennedy and Annette Kennedy, all of Smackover; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. M. R. Kennedy of Smackover; Mrs. C. F. McKnight of Smackover. Burial was in the Cross Roads Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers were James Eubanks, Del Basinger, Mike Holloway, Ronny Holloway, Olen Parker and Dale Hayes. Honrorary pallbearers will be member of the Smackover High School football team. The body was taken to family home in Smackover Monday afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - September 7, 1965)
