Obituary

Juanita Lucille "Pete" Purifoy, 94 of Greenbrier, passed away Friday February 3, 2012. She was born August 10, 1917 in Holland, AR to the late Thomas J. and Fannie Walters McGaha Garrett. Lucille was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dewitt E. Purifoy, brothers, Eugene Garrett, Tommy Truitt Garrett, James Benton Garrett, and Wellington Hugh "Bill" Garrett, sisters, Beatrice Garrett, Marjorie Maureen Garrett, and Blanche Elizabeth Garrett Carter.
Lucille was a member of the Holland Baptist Church and attended school at Holland. She served faithfully in her church for many years. In her church, she was next to the oldest member, Mildred Land, (97) her cousin being the oldest. Lucille was employed as a welder during WW II, worked as sales clerk in various places, but most important job to her was mother, wife, and homemaker. She loved the outdoors and tending to her flowers. Lucille had a great sense of humor, and always had a joke to tell.
Lucille is survived by her children, Fred Purifoy (Jana), of Holland, Maureen Fiddler of Heber Springs, Kathy Pearce (Ronald) of Holland, grandchildren, Fritz Purifoy of Odessa, TX, Sheryl Pollock of Jacksonville, Phyllis Smith, of North Little Rock, Kim Evans, of Ft. Smith, Robert Bailey of North Little Rock, Tim Pearce of Holland, and Carla White of Conway, great-grandchildren, Trey Hearon, Stephen Hearon, Justin Pearce, Haley White, Kaylen Pearce, Hannah White, Hope White, Bailey Evans, Garrett Evans, Luci Pollock, and Sam Pollock, and eight great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday February 5, 2012 at Holland Baptist Church with Bro. Larry White officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier(501-679-2575). Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Garrett, Jim Garrett, Paul Garrett, Charles Carter, Trey Hearon, and Stephen Hearon. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Carter, David Garrett, and Ronnie McGaha. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Holland Baptist Church Building Fund, 673 Hwy 287, Holland, AR 72173.
