Alfred John Boneno, 85, of El Dorado, and formerly of Kenner, LA died Sunday, July 24, 2011. Born 04/25/1926 in New Orleans, LA, son of Frank Paul Boneno and Agatha ‘Katie’ Mancuso Boneno. He was retired steamship clerk for the New Orleans Clerk and Checkers Union Local 1497 where he worked for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 25 years, Martha N. Rush Boneno; two daughters, Rhea Cruanes Santa Marina and Lynne Claire Harmon; son-in-law Bob Cruanes, two sisters, Jennie Boneno, Mary Grace Boneno Stevens, and three brothers, Frank, Roe, and Richard.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Ann Boneno Fink of Kenner, LA and Barbara Boneno Mc Googan of El Dorado, AR and her husband Danny; a son-in-law Pete Santa Marina and his wife Mary; several grandchildren and great grandchildren including Melanie Neugebauer of El Dorado, and her husband Shawn and children William R. Gremillion, Rhea and Jacob Neugebauer. Tony Cruanes of South Carolina and his wife Brooke and children Marie and Ryan Cruanes.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific on the U.S. APA117 Haskell. In New Orleans, LA he was elected Grand Knight of Council 3803 St Roch, Knights of Columbus and appointed District Deputy, Regional Director of District 5. He was a member of the New Orleans Metro Chapter, Knights of Columbus, and Vice-President of the Jerry Lewis Dystrophy Association in New Orleans, LA. He was a lifetime member of VFW John C. Carroll Post 2413 where he served as chaplain for several years. He was a member of First Assembly of God, RSVP, CareNet Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, Senior Friends and a volunteer at Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was elected to “The 5 Who Care” of El Dorado, AR in 1998. He was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding volunteer service to the people of Arkansas. He had been a resident of El Dorado since 1993. At the time of his death he was under the care of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home and Life Touch Hospice. Memorials in his memory may be sent to Hudson Memorial Nursing Home or Life Touch Hospice. A private service was held Monday, July 25, 2011 under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.
