Mrs. Jim Toombs, 70, of Rt. 4, El Dorado, died Wednesday in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Billy Hill officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Mr. Toombs was born Aug. 20, 1904, in Monroe, La., and was the son of Joe and Katie George Toombs. He was a resident of El Dorado for over 50 years and was a member of Local 706 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He was of the Assembly of God faith. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Erma Thomas Toombs of El Dorado; one son, George A. Toombs of Norphlet; one daughter, Mrs. Leon Sheeks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Smith of El Dorado and Mrs. Lee Van of Buckner; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be W. A. McMahan, Johnnie Telford, George Bailey, Jerry Bailey, Earl Griffin and Eddie H. Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Seale and members of Local 706 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.
