Billy the son of John and Lena Hannaford Blankenship; Greta the daughter of Velmer Eugene and Helen P. Smith McCarroll.

Billy Joe “Bill” Blankenship, 74 died at his residence in Little Rock, Arkansas Sunday February 14, 2016. Born to John & Lena (Hannaford) Blankenship on March 11, 1941 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

He attended Southern Baptist College & shared 50 years of marriage with Greta (McCarroll) Blankenship. He lived most of his life in Black Rock & Jonesboro, Arkansas. He retired after a 30 year career with the Arkansas Department of Finance in the Jonesboro field office & later moved to Little Rock . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening & just being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Greta (McCarroll) Blankenship and one sister; Joyce Hughes.

He is survived by his Son; Mark Blankenship and wife Robin of Little Rock, two grandsons; Brian Blankenship and wife Leslie of Conway, Ar., Justin Blankenship and wife Brittany of Bryant, Ar., one brother; Leroy Blankenship of Batesville, Ar., two sisters; Barbara Hill of Bay & Connie Simkoviak of Brookland, Ar., & one great-grandson, Elliot Blankenship of Conway, Ar.

Visitation will be held at, House-Gregg Funeral Chapel, in Walnut Ridge, Ar on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 1 pm with funeral Services to follow at 2pm. Interment will be at Oak Forrest Cemetery in Black Rock, Ar. With Bro. Harold Russell officiating under direction of House-Gregg Funeral Homes of Walnut Ridge and Lynn, AR.

Greta Blankenship, 68, of Bryant, formerly of Black Rock, died Sept. 17, 2010, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bill Blankenship; a son, Mark Blankenship and wife Robin, Little Rock; two sisters, Reta Kahley and husband Fritz, and Rita Toland and husband Rick, all of North Little Rock; and two grandsons, Brian Blankenship and Justin Blankenship.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bryant. A graveside service was held at Oak

Forest Cemetery at Black Rock at 3 p.m. Roller Ballard Funeral Home of Benton had charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Mission Team at First United Methodist Church, 508 North Reynolds Road, Bryant, AR 72022.
