James Jr the son of James Elmer and Mildred Anne (Cloud) Horne. Emma the daughter of Audrey and Lucile (Pickney) Brandon.


Emma Sue Brandon Horne, 70, died April 21, 2009.

Born Oct. 11, 1938, at Lynn, she was a homemaker and was a member of Black Rock Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Lucile Pickney Brandon; a son, Bobby; a daughter, Susie; five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, James "Junior" Horne, whom she married Feb. 4, 1956; three sons, James Horne and Rick Horne and wife Lesa, all of Black Rock, and Mark Horne and wife Lori, Ravenden; four daughters, Pam Mattison, Farmington Hills, Mich., Paula Turner and husband Cliff, Burton, Mich., and Louise Flanigan and Mildred Kennedy and husband Dennis, all of St. Louis; two brothers, Joe Brandon, Black Rock, and Junior Brandon and wife Deanne, Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Charlene Clark and Audrey Meeks and husband Bob, all of Black Rock, and Agnes Smith and husband Jerry, Pleasant Plains; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Black Rock Assembly of God with Bro. Mark Smith officiating. Burial was in Oak Forest Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mark Horne, Michael Horne, Robert Horne, Jimmy Stover, Tommy Mattison and Matt LaRose. Honorary pallbearers were James Horne, Rick Horne Mark Horne and Cliff Turner.

Memorials may be made to The Children's Shelter in Walnut Ridge or to the Black Rock Assembly of God.


James Junior Horne

James Junior Horne, 87, of Black Rock, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 25, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Horne was born on June 29, 1928, in Beech Grove, to the late James Elmer and Mildred Anne Cloud Horne. Junior was a member of First Christian Church in Jonesboro. As an adult he moved to Michigan and worked for General Motors for 30 years. Believing in a good day's work, he missed few days, raising his children and appreciating work. He loved baseball, his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include three sons, James Horne, Mark Horne (Lori), and Rick Horne (Lesa); four daughters, Louise Flanagan, Mildred Kennedy (Dennis), Pam Mattison, and Paul Turner (Cliff); a brother, Wayne Horne; a sister, Glenda Kilgore; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Horne was preceded in death by grandparents, James Benton and Janie Hardin; his parents; a brother, J. W. Horne; two sisters, Bonnie Jenkins and Betty Grubb; two wives, Luella Reed and Emma Brandon; a son, Bob Horne; and a daughter, Susan Horne.

Funeral was Friday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 2600 Woodsprings Road in Jonesboro, with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Interment was at 3 p.m. in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were his loving grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were the First Christian BYKOTA Sunday school class.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian building fund.
