November 6, 1918 - October 22, 1994
Dr. Pete LAMBERT, 76, of Calion, died Saturday, Oct. 22 at an El Dorado
hospital. Born Nov.6, 1918 in Bearden, he was the son of Hughie and Lena
Gregory Lambert. He was a member of Greater Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church
and a veteran of WWII, U.S. Navy. An ordained minister, he pastored Mt Olive
Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Camden, Oak Grove Baptist
Church in Thornton, Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Warren, First Baptist Church in
Sparkman, Willow Grove Baptist Church in Calion and Greenville Baptist Church in
Stamps. He served in several offices in the Greater Bradley District
Association, on the association's banking committee, as usher instructor, dean
and president, and as president of the singing convention. He was elected
moderator of the Columbia District Association in 1979 and served until his
death. He was a past vice-moderator. He served as co-chairman of the
Southwestern Arkansas Community Development Corp. board in Magnolia and boys
director and second vice-president for the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State
Convention. He was a trustee at Arkansas Baptist College, police commissioner
in Calion and a city council member for eight years. Survivors include his wife
Mr. Ollie Levy Lambert of Calion, a son Lee Freison of San Antonio, Texas, a
daughter Gloria Blake of Oakland, Calif., a stepdaughter Rosetta Porter of
Richmond, Calif., seven sisters: Ollie Boone, Estella Williams and Louise
Powell, all of Kansas City, Mo., Everlena Johnson of Kansas City, Kan., Ocie
Perkins of Omaha, Neb., Elnora Houston of East St Louis, Ill., and Arma Jean
Lambert of Rockford, Ill; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at F.O. Jones Auditorium in Bearden with Dr.
P.J. James officiating. Burial will be at Moss Hill Cemetery at Bearden by
Brown Williams Funeral Home of Fordyce. The family will be at 271 Mills Street
in Calion.
