August 16, 1919 - November 29, 1968

Mrs. Lula Meeks, 49, died last Wednesday in a local hospital. Born Aug. 16, 1919, in Smackover, she was the daughter of John and Mary Smith Cowser. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church where she served for several years on the usher board and was a member of the choir. Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Meeks, Smackover; her mother, Mrs. Mary Cowser, Smackover; a brother, John Cowser, Milwaukee, Wis.; and four sisters, Mrs. Josie Lewis and Mrs. Fannie Lee Callaway, both of Smackover, Mrs. Hattie Mae Johnson, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Jones, Richmond, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sweet Home Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Hicks Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
