January 30, 1918 - December 4, 1969
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, in Smackover with the Rev. L. E. Hardin officiating, for Mrs. Dollie McElroy Meekins, 51, who died Dec. 4. She was born Jan. 30, 1918, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe McElroy. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Louann. She is survived by her husband, Brady Meekins, Smackover; three daughters, Mrs. Ivory Lee Williams and Miss Thunie Nellie Meekins, both of Seattle, Wash., and Miss Erma Jean Meekins, Smackover; a son, Brady Joseph Meekins, Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Ara Lee Reese, Seattle; two brothers, Joe McElroy, Smackover, and Allen McElroy, St. Louis, Mo.; and one grandchild. Burial will be in the Hicks Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Mack Hegwood, Booker T. Minor, Sylvester Harris, Jake Tatum, Acie Bradford, and James Meekins. Honorary pallbearers are Grover Smith, Aaron Hicks, Horace Tate, Nathaniel Smith, Prentice O'Guinn and James Williams. (El Dorado Times - December 13, 1969)
