Lois Davis of Owensville, beloved Mother of Stephen Davis, passed peacefully with her son by her side on July 3, 2009 in Saline Memorial Hospice Unit at Bryant, AR.


Lois was born October 17, 1927 in Jessieville, AR to John Henry and Minnie Carpenter McEarl. She was a devoted wife, loving Mother, Aunt and friend. She graduated from Jessieville High School as Valedictorian in 1944. She later moved to California where she met and married the love of her life, Hugh E. Davis on November 26, 1946. She retired after 20 years service at Camarillo State Hospital.


After retiring she and her husband moved back to Owensville in 1980. She truly loved the Lord and loved going to the Owensville Baptist Church where she was an active member in the Womans Bible Study.


She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Hugh E. Davis, her Mother and Father; her brother, Hurburt McEarl and his wife Lois, sister Mildred Graves and her husband Dured; brother-in-laws, Robert Davis; Rev. Howard A Davis and wife Agnes; Clyde Dickson and Elbert Horton.


She is survived by her son, Stephen Davis; sisters, Dorothy Lee Dickson and Cathrine Horton; niece Sharron Davis Durham; Aunt Josephine Huff and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered for her bright smile, her strength and courage, along with her love for her family, friends and her church. She never said a bad word about anyone.


Services will be Tuesday July 7, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Owensville Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Keltner and Rev. Clarence Shell officiating. Followed by burial at Shiloh Cemetery in Jessieville, AR. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Caruth Village Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village, AR.


Pallbearers will be her nephews: Stephen Durham, Richard McEarl, Jerry Don Durham, Gary Graves, Dillard Graves, and Freddie Dickson. Honorary pallbearers, Ronnie and Greg Horton, her nieces, nephews, Owensville Baptist Church Womans Bible Study and Owensville Baptist Church. A special thanks to Benton Healthcare, Dr. Charles Larrison, Saline Memorial Hospice, Dr. Richard Mayo and his staff. A very special appreciation to the loving staff members of Benton Healthcare, Denise; Shannon; Allison; Christine; and her very special friend Betty Boyer Tognetti; and a special thanks to CNA Torri and Saline Memorial Hospice of Bryant.
