Jeff D. "Bud" Dunbar, Sr, 69, of the Strong Highway, died in a local hospital Tuesday afternoon following a short illness. Dunbar was born in El Dorado, on Dec. 7, 1896, and was the son of John G. and Sarah Jane Burns Dunbar. He was a retired employe of the American Oil Co. and a lifelong resident of El Dorado. He was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I and a member of Roy V. Kinard American Legion Post 10. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carrie Mae Jennings Dunbar of El Dorado, one son, Jeff D. Dunbar, Jr. of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Billy Joe Daily of El Dorado; two brothers, W. A. "Boots" Dunbar and J. E. "Ebb" Dunbar both of El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. John Garlington and Mrs. Fay Goodwin, both of El Dorado, and Mrs. Irene Edwards of Shreveport, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery on the Junction City Highway. Military graveside rites will be held. (The El Dorado Times - October 4, 1965)
