Lillie Leonia Greenway, 85, of Conway died Thursday, November 22. She was born July 21, 1923, in Ada, Oklahoma, to the Rev. Leroy Goodson and Lottie Payne Goodson.
She retired from Verizon Communications, where she was a telephone operator for many years. She was also a poet, Bible teacher, and singer. Principally, though, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, exemplifying the godly woman described in Proverbs 31.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Henry (“Sam”) Greenway and by a daughter, Donna (“Micki”) Mitchell. She is survived by two daughters, Norma Tio Farthing and her husband John of Greenbrier, and Esther Kershner Mitchell and her husband Ron of Conway, as well as an “adopted” daughter, Jennifer White of Greenbrier; by three grandchildren, Vicki Mitchell Lowery and her husband Ron of Batesville, Rebekah Tio Price and her husband Lance of Fayetteville, and Lance Kershner of Singapore; and by five great grandchildren: Emily, Jacob, Abigail and Alaina Lowery, Landon Price, and Samantha Kershner.
A celebration of Lillie’s life will be held Wednesday, November 26, at 11:00 a. m. at Needs Creek Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Bro. Jurl Mitchell, Dr. Ron Mitchell and Dr. John Farthing officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-McNutt in Conway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Micki Mitchell Scholarship Fund at Central Baptist College or the Norma Tio Farthing Academic Advising Fund at the University of Central Arkansas.
