Ray Leon "Happy" Martin, 91, of Glendale, Ariz., passed away peacefully the evening of Nov. 17, 2007, just one year after his beloved wife Dean.
Leon was born and raised in Martinville, and lived most of his life in and around Greenbrier.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Core.
In 2002 Leon and Dean moved to Arizona to be with their daughter Liz and her family.
"Happy" or "Hap" Martin loved life and stayed active. He was able to enjoy and dance at his grandson's wedding less than one month before his death.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Liz and Lola; sons-in-law, Mike and Jack; and his grandchildren, Joshua, Jesee, Miranda and Jack.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Springhill Baptist Church. Leon will always be remembered by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Leon's memory.

Dean P. Martin, 88, of Glendale, Ariz., passed away Nov. 24, 2006.
Born Nov. 24, 1918, Dean devoted herself to education for 43 years. She touched the lives of countless students, even as early as the 1940s in Wooster and Martinville. She later became a teacher, then principal at Greenbrier Elementary, now known as Dean P. Martin Elementary.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ray L. Martin; her daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Mike Bearden; and her beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse and Miranda Bearden.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Springhill Baptist Church, 25 Highway 287 East in Greenbrier at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The family requests donations be made in Dean's memory to the Alzheimer's foundation in lieu of sending flowers.
