Doris Jean Sams, age 72, of Conway, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Conway Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 26, 1934 in Lamar, AR, to the late Hershel and Amma (Ross) Davis. She was baptized in Lamar at 12 years of age. She was a member of Prince Street Church of Christ where she taught a ladies Bible class. She retired after 30 years of teaching in the Conway Public School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kerry Daniel Sams and a sister, Beatrice Hazel Williams.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Wayne Sams of Conway; a son, Kevin Wayne Sams and wife Lynette of Conway; a daughter, Carol Jean Haile and husband Tim of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a sister, Lois Irene Glass and husband Charles of Conway; four grandchildren, Tyler and Lindsey Sams of Conway, Rachel Sochor and husband Andy of Bowling Green, and Luke Haile of Bowling Green; one great-grandchild, Caden Sochor of Bowling Green; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Tim Haile officiating. A committal service will follow at Martinville Cemetery, officiated by Jerry Crolius, minister of Prince Street Church of Christ.

Visitation is Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews: Tyler Sams, Luke Haile, Daniel Wimpee, Andy Sochor, Jacob Wiggs, and Jeff Wimpee.
