Rhoda Ann (Thorn) Treadaway, 68 of Guy, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011. Born in Guy on June 7, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Gerald and Bertha (Hooten) Thorn. Rhoda Ann was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was member of the Guy Church of Christ. She attended Guy-Perkins High School, where she excelled at basketball. Rhoda holds the Arkansas Activities Association State Record for the most points scored, 73, in a tournament game. The game was between Greenbrier and Guy-Perkins, in the Faulkner County Tournament, held at Vilonia in 1960. She attended business college in Little Rock, before her marriage and was a homemaker for over twenty years before becoming a rural mail carrier for the Greenbrier Post Office. Rhoda was also preceded in death by her brothers: Olen ”Hoot” Thorn and Randall “Till” Thorn.
Rhoda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Buford Treadaway; daughters: Rhonda Roberts (Alan) and Patricia Treadaway all of Greenbrier; four grandchildren: Logan Skaggs, Michaela Roberts, Brock Roberts and Hannah Skaggs; sisters: Nana Kay Thorn and Ruby Burroughs (Ken) both of Conway; brothers: Julius Thorn (Winnie Mae), Willard Thorn (Kay) and Melvin “Pete” Thorn( Sandra) all of Greenbrier and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 19, at Guy Church of Christ with Clark Hooten officiating. Burial will follow at Copperas Springs Cemetery with her nephews : Todd Thorn, Travis Thorn, Mark Thorn, Timmy Dycus, James Dickens, Jason Burroughs, Alan Carmichael and Laurence Yarbrough serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Monday at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
