JOHNSON, Susan DUNHAM - Mrs. Susan Dunham Johnson, who died at her home midway between Lowell and Rogers Monday, was one of the oldest native born residents in the county, having lived in that community for over 80 years. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. L.L. Johnson of Lowell, were held Tuesday afternoon. Burial was made in the McDaniels cemetery by the side of her husband and eight children who preceded her. Two brothers, James Dunham of Rogers and Sam Dunham of Oklahoma; a niece, Mrs. O.N. Mays of Lowell, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive. She was married when quite young to Turner Johnson, mothered eight children and lived to see them all buried before she was called. She kept her home and took care of the children while her husband served thru the Civil War. She would scorn the younger generation with the use of a hoe, cared for her garden and truck patches until last summer when she gradually began to break down. She was always able to care for herself until about three months ago when a niece, Mrs. Betty Ustler, came to take care of her. Her home contained many priceless heirlooms of her ancestors. Her idea for a long life was a clean heart, her pipe, and plenty of employment. She found time for her religious work and was a life long member of the Baptist Church.
