PEA RIDGE — Walter Alexander "Dub" Snow, 89, was called to heaven Dec. 21, 2017, at his home in Pea Ridge with his family by his side. Dub was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Ardmore, Okla., to James Frank Snow Sr. and Mattie Lena Snow.

He attended schools in Hugo and Stringtown, Okla. He married the love of his life, June Elizabeth Overturf, on July 22, 1948, in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for over 65 years, exemplifying a love beyond compare, and to this union were born Nancy, Marty and Cheryl.

Dub drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 20-plus years. He sang on the Oklahoma Jubilee with brother Bill and Sonny Woodring. In 1966, he packed up his family, bought a farm in Southwest Missouri, and moved there along with his two brothers and their families. He was a longtime partner with his two brothers at Bill & Dub's Furniture store operating in Joplin, Mo., as well as Bentonville, Rogers and finally Pea Ridge.

On retirement, he built Snow's Big Red Barn in the middle of his pasture near his home and played music every Saturday night with the band, Bill Snow and the Renegades. It was a family-oriented atmosphere, with his beloved June running the concession. They operated the Red Barn together for 20 years, and then they made their home in Pea Ridge.

Dub enjoyed his family and often said they were his everything. He was a self taught guitarist, as well as a singer/songwriter, having written more than 300 songs. He was also an avid reader, sometimes reading a book a day. Spending time with his family and friends was extremely important to him. He cherished family dinners, reunions, or just friends/family stopping by to visit with him. He enjoyed attending his many grandkids sporting events.

He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved older brother Frank and his wife Lillie, grandson Brandon Riffell and the 'love of his life' June.

He is survived by eldest daughter, Nancy Riffell (Dave) and their children, Shane Spencer (Dink), Shannon Stewart (Kris) and Brooke Riffell; son, James Martin "Marty" Snow (Patt) and their children, Matthew Snow (Nikki), Jennifer Yates (Brent) and Michael Snow (Breanne); daughter, Cheryl and her children, Jamie Brown (Kat), Justin Brown (Secily) and Kayla Anderson (Wes); 28 great-grandkids; one great-great-grandchild, with another on the way, along with his younger brother and best friend Bill and wife Vivian; also, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a multitude of great friends, far too many to mention. He will surely be missed by all of his family, friends, neighbors, and the Pea Ridge community.

Funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge with Pastor Al Fowler officiating.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Visitation will begin at noon before the service at the church.

Online condolences may be made at siscofuneralhome.net.
