LJ served in the US Army during WWII earning a Bronze Star for his efforts. He served as a Chaplain in WWII and a preacher locally. LJ is the son of Joseph Elbert Gay and Maxie Lee (McCracken) Gay. Tootie the daughter of Arthur Lee Asberry and Hilda Esther Lee (Lackey) Asberry.
