Lincoln - Charles Curtis (Squirt) Karnes, 48, president of the Bank of Lincoln, died Friday. Born Dec. 6, 1925 at Cane Hill, the son of Stirman and Gladys Curtis Karnes, he was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason and a Presbyterian.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Martha Lee Cuzick Karnes of the home; one son, Larry C. of Lincoln; one brother, Warren of Fort Smith; four sisters, Mrs. Merrill Brown of Fort Smith, Mrs. Marguerite Deaton of Tulsa, and Mrs. Allean Moore Pier and Mrs. Wanda Irving both of Springdale and his father and stepmother of Cane Hill.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lincoln Presbyterian Church with burial in Cane Hill Cemetery under direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to the Lincoln Presbyterian Church.

SPRINGDALE — Martha Lee Karnes McLeod, 82, of Springdale died Sept 3, 2010, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born March 26, 1928, in Morrow to Eugene and Martha Brock Cuzick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Curtis "Squirt" Karnes; and one daughter, Brenda Sue Karnes; four brothers, Woodrow Cuzick, Harrison Cuzick, Lavon Cuzick and Skeet Cuzick; two sisters, Johnie Cuzick, and Juanita Sweeney.

Survivors include her husband, Don McLeod of Springdale; one son, Larry Curtis Karnes of Van Buren, Arkansas; three grandsons Charles Philip Karnes of Greenwood, Bart Curtis Karnes of Van Buren, and Whitney Lee Karnes of Fayetteville; four great-grandsons, Landon Curtis, Grant Charles, Caleb Matthew and Ty Philip; one brother, Aubrey Curick of Springdale; six sisters, Bessie Pennell and Mary Reed both of Prairie Grove, Paula Cox of Lincoln, Louella Padgett and Anna Spear both of Siloam Springs and Lola Smith of Cassville, Mo.

Services were held Sept. 6, at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, with burial in Cane Hill Cemetery.
