Jamie Norris Ross, 96, of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Lynn, died June 18, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1918, at Driftwood, she was the daughter of Frank and Virgie Norris Seagraves. She was a member of the Baptist church.
She moved to Detroit in the early 1940s and worked in the Chrysler factory producing Jeeps and trucks for the military during World War II, becoming one of the early “Rosie the Riveters.” She moved to Florida after retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ross; her stepfather, George Hudson; a sister, Bonita Lingo; three stepbrothers, Sherril Hudson, Earl Hudson and Ewalt Hudson; three stepsisters, Dallas, Bernice and Olivia; and a stepdaughter, Nancy Ross. Survivors include two nieces, Levita Lingo, Jonesboro, and Jamae Bailey, Walnut Ridge; two stepsons, Jim Ross, Harrison, Ohio, and Chuck Ross, Florida; a stepgranddaughter, April Bolton-Gulisano, Harrison, Ohio; a step-nephew, Jim Richey, Lynn; and two step-nieces, Mary Sue Alls and husband Cecil, St. Louis, and Earline Ashlock, Cave City. Visitation and funeral was Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lynn with Terrell Neeley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Fears Funeral Home.
