Wayne Dee Glover, 89 of Bee Branch, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010. Born in Greenbrier, AR on December 24, 1920, he was a son of the late Sam F. and Johnnie (May) Glover.
Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved the outdoors. He was an Army veteran of WWII having served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater, where he was awarded three bronze stars. Wayne retired from C.I.G. after 33 years of service as a field supervisor. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Damascus.
A sister Katheryn Lybarger, two brothers Wallace Glover and Wandle Glover and a grandchild, Eric Glover also preceded him in death.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 43 years Winona (Woodward) Glover; children: Sanford Glover (Jeana) of Florida, Waymon Glover (Sue) of Oklahoma, Phillip Glover of Texas, Kay Barnes (Kenneth) of Texas and Melissa Robinson (Terry Don) of Wooster; step-sons Bruce Axtell (Patti) of Kansas, Mark Axtell of Oklahoma and Jason Axtell (LaWana) also of Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Lola Mae Brown, Mary Ann Freeman, Sue Seay, Willard Glover, Winfred Glover and Wade Glover.
Memorials in Wayne's name may be made to Odessy Hospice, The American Cancer Society or The National Kidney Foundation.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, December 27 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Pastor Daniel Williams officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Thorn Cemetery. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Johnny Glover, Ransom Axtell, Michael Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Kaleb Yoder and Ethan Axtell. Honorary pallbearers are also his grandsons, Dustin Glover, Ivan Robinson and Logan Axtell. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 26 at the funeral home.
