Brother Miles Tinsley King, Scotland, AR was born December 12, 1932 at Morrison, Tennessee, the son of Warren and Gladys Miles King. He passed peacefully from this earthly life December 19, 2011 at his home surrounded by family members. Miles was a long time preacher of the church of Christ, having obeyed the gospel in Gadsden, AL at age 12 and remained faithful to his God and Lord Jesus until his death.
He served many years as an evangelist traveling all over the States and making 2 trips to Russia to do mission work. In 1952 he graduated from high school at Cordell, OK. During his high school years he worked with the church in Sentinel, OK in an effort to establish a faithful church at Cordell. Miles married Johnette Reynolds of Scotland on April 11, 1955 in Little Rock. Miles worked with the church in many places and lived and worked with the church in Norman, OK for some 18 years where he and Johnette raised their two daughters. His and Johnette's home has always been "Hospitality House". No telling how many people, young and old, have sat at that bountiful table enjoying Johnette's fine meals. Many young men traveled with Miles training to be a preacher of the Gospel. Miles was a tireless worker for God, one of the most out-going, friendly men in all the world. In trying to tell the world about Jesus and spread the gospel to the world, he would do such things as pass out business cards at WalMart and McDonald's, stating with no shame or apology, that he was a preacher of the Gospel. He wanted everyone to know Jesus. He was an expert door-knocker, inviting everyone he could find to attend gospel meetings. It was said Miles never met a stranger and always had a big smile, earning the nickname "Miles of Smiles". He was indeed "one of a kind". Many called him "Miles the King. Recently he worked with the churches at Scotland, Jerusalem (Cedar Creek), & Witts Springs, AR and Conway, LA. He stood in the pulpit as long as he was able and preached his last sermon on September 4, 2011 at Cedar Creek church of Christ in Jerusalem, AR.
Miles was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Miriam, and brother, Neal.
Miles leaves an adoring family. His faithful wife, Johnette; one brother, Charles (Pat), Troy, TX; one sister, Joyce Land (Dale), Crockett, TX; one brother-in-law, Vaughn Morris Reynolds (Maudine), Russellville, one sister-in-law, Loeta Acton, Scotland; two uncles, Frank Miles (Barbara), Jacksonville, AL & Buster Miles (Alice), Heflin, AL; two daughters, Jeannie Furr (Don), Scotland and Becky Baze (Terry), Mansfield, TX.
