SPRINGDALE — Vanis Elvis Pennington, 84, of Springdale, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at his home. He was born July 20, 1928, in Springdale to Jasper Clinton and Dora Maude McMillan Pennington.

Vanis was a retired elevator mechanic. He served in the United States Navy during World War II; he was a past member of the Moose Lodge # 877. He was a member of Berry Street Baptist Church in Springdale. He enjoyed working in the yard.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Pennington, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Pennington of the home; two sons, James Pennington and wife, Nancy, of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Douglas Pennington and wife, Kathleen, of Yucca Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Donna Robinson and husband, Max, of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, Ardell Pennington and wife, Myrtle, of Springdale; two stepsons, Gary Mustain and wife, Glenda, of Lowell and David Mustain and wife, Cindy, of Anderson, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Diana Krizan and husband, Bob, of Springdale; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Richard Perry and the Rev. Don Seigler officiating. Burial will be in Silent Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
