Wife of Harlon W. Jones; daughter of David W. and Ruby Smith Duckworth.
Elsa Glenda Jones, 89, of Sun City, Texas, formerly of Black Rock, passed away gently and peacefully on Jan. 29, 2015, after a brief illness. Born Sept. 27, 1925, Glenda was the firstborn child of David W. and Ruby Smith Duckworth, originally of Black Rock. She oversaw the safe deposit department of Albany Savings Bank in Albany, N.Y., for many years, until retiring in 1982. After retirement, she and her husband, Harlon, traveled extensively. She also kept busy with her knitting, artistic talents, musical abilities and cooking for her loving family. In recent years, residing in Sun City, Texas, she was a key member of the Sun City Dulcimer Players, playing guitar and singing in concerts for local nursing homes and fundraising events for The Caring Place.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pauline (Harold) Woodyard; and a brother, Donald Willard (Laquetia) Duckworth.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Harlon W. Jones; a daughter, Lynne (Charles) Hawk, Zanesville, Ohio; two sons, Warren (Vicki) Jones, Georgetown, Texas, and Larry (Ellen) Jones, Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Howard (Dolores) Duckworth, Smithville; a sister, Anna B. (John) Ruscin, Sullivan, Ill.; six grandchildren, Charles Hawk, Dawn Daily, Laurice Jones, Elissa Jones, Kelly Jones and Kevin Jones, five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Ramsey Funeral Home of Georgetown, Texas, had charge of local arrangements.
A memorial service will be held in Black Rock at a later date.
