Dr. George E. Malone, 62, of Atkins, died Friday (Sept. 26, 1997) in a Memphis hospital.
He had been a practicing physician in Atkins since 1965. He was born in London to the late Cecil, Sr. and Alma Shinn Malone. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas Medical School and a member of the Russellville Episcopalian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Carter Malone of Little Rock, Pick and Martin Malone of Atkins; a brother and sister-in-law, Cecil L. and Betty Malone of Little Rock; a sister, Mary Spaulding of Little Rock and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lauran Malone.
Funeral service was Monday morning at Lemley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Davis Bishop. Burial was in Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Dr. Kelly Meyer, George L. B. Pratt, Lloyd Reed George, Jerry Davis, Raymond Pearce, Don McCuller, Elmo Haney, Charles May and Dow Dollar.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Sorrels and Elmo Bizzell.
