Anna Rae Matthews Brown, 93, of Holly Grove, Ark. went to be with her husband and son on Sept. 26, 2014. She was born in Holly Grove Ark. to William Edward Matthews and Daisy Johnson Matthews on July 31, 1921.

She was preceded by her parents; husband of 59 yrs, Marten A. Brown; son, Marten A. Brown Jr.; brother, William E. Matthews Jr. and sister, Martha Thompson.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Ann (Fred) Hill of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Brown; grandchildren, Robert W. Scoggin, Stacy Ann (Chris) Brown, Philip Durbin, Chance (April) Brown, Angela (Chris) Couch, Michele (Steve) Casavechia; 12 great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Katherine Rhodes of Clarendon; a niece, Joan Beard, and nephews, Edward (Cindy) Thompson and William D. (Vickie) Matthews.

Rae grew up in Holly Grove, Ark., attended ASTC for two years and graduated from Office Training School in Memphis, Tenn. Rae and Marten operated Brown Lumber Co. in Holly Grove for over 40 years. They traveled the country during their retirement years. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Holly Grove, where she was very active, teaching Sunday school to little ones and playing the piano. She was also presented an Honorary Life Membership Award. Rae and Marten spent many enjoyable hours fishing the lakes around Holly Grove.

There will be a graveside service at Macedonia Cemetery in Holly Grove, Monday Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.
