DUCKWORTH, Clara BOWEN Duckworth Doane - S.T. Bowen received a telegram Saturday morning telling of the sudden death of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Duckworth, wife of John P. Duckworth, at Lake View, Oregon. It was wholly unexpected and came as a great shock to the friends and relatives here. It also said Mr. Duckworth would leave at once for Rogers with the body. They arrived here yesterday morning. A letter received a few days later from Mrs. Duckworth and written the day before she died, said she was to undergo an operation the following day. It was the result of an injury to her breast received some time ago when she was thrown from a buggy but in her letter Mrs. Duckworth did not write as tho she considered it serious. The shock of the operation, however, was too great and she died soon afterwards. Mrs. Duckworth was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Bowen of this city and a sister of Mrs. John Seamster and Mrs. Blanche Sager. Also a sister of Mrs. Emma Hammond of St. Louis and F.E. Bowen of Seligman, who were both home for the funeral. Clara Bowen was born at Rolla, Mo. July 26, 1884 and came with her parents to Benton county 17 years ago. She made her home in Rogers for a number of years and was well and favorably known here. Her first husband, A.J. Duckworth, was a brother of John Duckworth, who she married several years ago after she had gone to St. Louis to become a trained nurse. After the death of A.J. Duckworth she married Ed Doane, son of Mrs. C.E. Bentley, who was later killed in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. J.D. Bowles. Interment in the city cemetery.
