OXFORD — Virginia Louise Mitchell Grantz, 79, of Oxford died Monday, March 26, 2012, in Salem.
Born April 27, 1932, in Sheridan, Wyo., she was the daughter of Marvin Virgil Mitchell and Bessie Ruth Spencer Mitchell. She was united in marriage to Nelson Homer Grantz on Dec. 20, 1961, in Enid, Okla. She was a homemaker and was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Grantz of Batesville; four daughters, Regina Sailer of Denton, Texas, Deborah Gann of Horseshoe Bend, Janice Redington of Batesville and Susan Rorie of Oxford; a brother, Richard Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 32 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Julie Vallier.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at Oxford United Methodist Church with Bob Coleman officiating. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Talmon Hutson, John Taylor, Glen Everett, Junior Majors, Bill Martin, Carl Bretthaeur and Bobby Coleman.
