Burl Murphy Hankins, 60, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday in a local hospital. Born. Dec. 19, 1907 in Butterfield, Mo. the son of Golden A. and Cordelia Vineyard Hankins, he was a member of Central Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II and a teacher in the Fayetteville School System.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Lila Hankins of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Nygaard of Fremont, Calif., Mrs. Rita Hammer of Aztec, N.M. and Mrs. Ann Leigh of Detroit, Mich.; his mother, of Cassville, Mo.; one brother, William M. of Lowell; four sisters, Mrs. Violet Parmley of Pittsburg, Calif., Mrs, Gertha Wheeler of Batterfield, Mrs. Opal Ashens Cassville and Mrs. Goldie Haggarty of Rogers and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moore's Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Lila Gordon Hankins, 76, of Fayetteville died July 20 at a Fayetteville hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1907, in Indian Territory, Okla., the daughter of Hiram Park and Emma Katherine Dickson Alleger. She was the widow of Burl M. Hankins, who died in 1968. She was a retired school teacher, an artist and a poet. She had taught at Ramay Junior High School, Hillcrest Junior High School and at Leverett School in Fayetteville. She had also taught in Butterfield, Mo. She was a graduate of the Porum school system in Oklahoma and of the University of Arkansas in 1929 with a degree in English. She received her master's degree in geography from the University of Arkansas in 1962. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kappa Kappa Iota Retired Teachers, the American Association of University Women, the United Methodist Women and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association. She moved to Fayetteville from Winslow in 1939.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Hankins Nygaard of Moscow, Idaho, Mrs. Rita Hankins Hammer of Payette, Idaho, and Mrs. Ann Hankins Leigh of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore's Chapel with Dr. Merle Allison Johnson and Tommy Rupert officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Scott Leigh, Jeffery Leigh, Michael Leigh, Mitchell Hankins, Pat Nickle and Roy English.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
