D. K. May, aged 68, of Fairview, died in the Camden hospital this afternoon of injuries suffered in an automobile collision on U. S. Highway 79 near the "Y" at Harrell field, three miles north of Camden this morning. May, with two others, J. W. Vaughn and Vernon Walker, both of Bearden, were taken to the hospital. The two Bearden men are also seriously injured. May, a former carpenter who had been farming in recent years, was born in Malvern on July 30, 1879. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and six sons. He has lived in this community the past six years. Surviving are his wife of Fairview, five daughters, Mrs. Gussie Honnell, Mrs. Lester Patterson, both of Camden; Mrs. Marie Ferguson of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Ivy Carter of Oak Grove, La.; and Mrs. Edith Russell of Los Angeles; Calif.; six sons, Edward May of Camden; Carl and D. K., Jr., of Houston; Raymond, Paul and Eugene May, all of Los Angeles; two sisters of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral arrangements are pending arrival of sons from California, but probably will be held sometime Thursday. Proctor Mortuary will be in charge. (Camden News - April 22, 1947)
