Charles "Nick" Mings resided in Barling, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was born March 26, 1933 in Paris to the late Jess Mings and Bonnie (Nichols) Mings.
He was 77 years old.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jess Mings Jr.
Nick was a retired construction surveyor for 36 years for the Arkansas State Highway Department. He was actively involved with the Logan County Coal Miners Memorial, member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, member of the Arkansas Seniors Golf Association, member of the River Valley Pro-Am Golf Association, past President of the Paris Jaycees & Little Creek Country Club in Ratcliff. He was a longstanding member of the Fort Smith Eagles and was a Army veteran of the Korean War. Nick was a 1951 graduate of Paris High School and member of the Barling Methodist Church.
He loved to play golf, bird hunting, dancing, watching westerns and sports on T.V., and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
The body was cremated under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
Memorial service was 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21st, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial of cremains was at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his longtime companion of 41 years, Ginger Helton; four children, Lisa Ezell & husband Jerry of Subiaco, Nicky Mings & wife Julie of Paris, Robin Farmer & husband Boyd of Paris, and Shirley Richison & husband Joe of Pocola, Oklahoma; two sisters, Neva Kuykendall of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Alice Hargrove of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Terra Reames & husband Keith, Bianka Ezell, Nickole, Brooke & Hailey Mings, Boydie Farmer & wife Kimber, Levi Farmer, Spenser & Shelby Richison; five great grandchildren, Cameron, Hunter, Tanner, Drake, and Ty Ryder.
He is also survived by three nephews, one niece, six great nephews, one great niece, one great-great niece, one great-great nephew, and a host of other family and cherished friends.

February 19,1937 - January 1,2013

Parital cremains of Virginia 'Ginger' Helton will be interred with Nick January 4, 2013. She was paritally interred at Fort Smith National Cemetery with her husband, James Helton.
