Hugh Weldon Martin, age 95, of Caulksville, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2008, in his home. He was born October 3, 1913, in Whitesboro, Texas, to the late C.C. Martin and Anna Waddell Martin. He was a long time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Ratcliff, member of the National Lodge #411 in Ratcliff, 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Cattleman's Association, and the Farm Bureau Association. He was self-employed most of his life. He raised cotton and wheat crops in Texas. On coming to Arkansas in 1953, he owned a gas station and also bought, sold, and raised cattle. He enjoyed going to Shane's Restaurant in Caulksville each day for coffee and to visit with his many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Evelyn, of the home; two daughters, Joyce Wood & husband Bennie and Doris Best & husband Jim, all of Caulksville; one son, David Weldon "Bud" Martin & wife Jane, also of Caulksville. They were blessed with nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the Ratcliff First Baptist Church, with burial at the Caulksville Cemetery, with Masonic Graveside Rites, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
Pall Bearers will be Greg Best, Rodney Best, Stephen Wood, Jimmy Don Martin, Craig Martin, Max Harvell, Bennie Wood, and Jack Wallace.

October 21,1916 - May 14,2011
Evelyn Martin, age 94 of Caulksville, went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning, May 14th, 2011 in Paris.
She was born October 21, 1916 near Whitesboro, Texas to the late Louis R. Riddle and Susie (Sikes) Riddle.
She was the widow of Hugh W. Martin and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ratcliff.
Evelyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Evelyn was loved by all who knew her. She loved her home and family, enjoyed making quilts, gardening and taking care of her family.
Funeral service was 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17th at the First Baptist Church in Ratcliff. Burial was at the Caulksville Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Wood and husband Bennie, and Doris Best and husband Jim, all of Caulksville; one son, David (Bud) Martin and wife Jane of Caulksville. She was blessed with (9) grandchildren and (19) great grandchildren and a host of wonderful friends. She is also survived by one brother, Ben Riddle and three sisters, Gladys Brooks, Lois Gotcher, and Julia Knox, all of Texas.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Greg Best, Rodney Best, Jimmy Martin, and Craig Martin and great grandsons, Jesse Martin and Levi Best.
Honorary pallbearers were ladies of the Ratcliff Baptist Church and her caregivers
