GORDON, Caroline MOORE - Mrs. Caroline Gordon died at her home two miles east of Rogers on the Pleasant Ridge road. She had been ill only a day or two and her death was a great surprise to her many friends who had not learned of her illness. It is interesting to note that she died on her 78th birthday anniversary, having been born October 20th, 1841. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church and were conducted by Rev. Eli Myers. The Central M.E. church is undergoing repairs and it was impossible to hold the services in the church of whose denomination she had been a member for more than sixty years. Interment was in the city cemetery beside the body of her husband, J.P. Gordon, who died some years ago. The deceased was born in Hawood county, Tenn. and her maiden name was Caroline Moore. She was married in 1868 to James P. Gordon and to them were born six children, two girls and four sons. Both of the daughters are dead but she is survived by all four sons: Luther A., John C. and Henry A., who live here and Nathan L. Gordon, who lives at Cave Springs. The family came to Rogers from Texas in 1895 and had lived on the farm east of Rogers ever since. Mrs. Gordon was one of the best known and most popular women in the neighborhood and was a woman of much ability and character. One of the greatest joys of her life was that she lived to see all four of her sons members of the church.

{from Stony Point} It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. J.P. Gordon, more commonly known as Aunt Caroline, which occurred Monday morning. She was a member of the M.E. church, South for many years and was a devout, loyal Christian. Her passing away takes one more of the older citizens of this neighborhood. She leaves four sons and 7 grandchildren, 3 of whom she raised.

{from Stony Point} Lowrey Kendall arrived Tuesday, the 21st, from Paul's Valley, Okla. to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Gordon, but owing to all trains being late he arrived a few hours too late. His grandmother raised him and friends here extend their sympathy to him.
