Springdale — Herbert Morris Burditt, 53, of route 1, died this morning in the local hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1909 in Logan, Okla. and was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include the widow, Mary Aganess Walker Burditt of the home; four sons, Forrest of Casper, Wyo., Vernon of Fort Smith, David and Doyle both of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Marvelen Cook of Jay, Okla. Mrs. Johnny Stamps and Mrs. Bonnie Lawson both of Springdale; his mother, Mrs. Olive Burditt of Darrouzett, Tex.; one brother, Bob of Logan, four sisters, Mrs. Edna Walter of Monroeville, Calif., Mrs. Florence Brady of Independence, Kan., Mrs. Talma Kischke of Darrouzette and Mrs. Hattie Mae Custer of Logan and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements will be announced by the Callison-Sisco Funeral Home.

SPRINGDALE — Mary A. Walker Burditt, 93, of Springdale, died April 23, 2008, at the Circle of Life Hospice. She lived an honorable life, devoted to her family and to her faith in Christ Jesus. Her children and grandchildren "arise and call her blessed."

Born May 25, 1914, to Peter Lee and Sally Margaret Walker of Beaver County, Okla., she married Herbert Burditt in 1935. In 1953, Herbert and Mary moved their family to Arkansas where she has made her home since. An affirmed Methodist, she faithfully attended and ministered with the members of Brush Creek Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Russell, and her eldest son, Forest Burditt, one daughter, Marveleen Cook, one daughter-in-law, Carol Burditt, one granddaughter, Carla Sanders, and her brother, John Walker.

Survivors include three sons, Vernon Burditt (Polly) of Converse, Texas, David Burditt of Hamilton, Miss., and Doyle Burditt (Jeanette) of Highfill; two daughters, Johnny Stamps (Joe) of Fayetteville and Bonnie Lawson (S.L.) of Springdale; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Burditt, of Sale, Victoria, Australia; one son-in-law, Ivan Cook of Southwest City, Mo; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale. The graveside service will be on Monday at 2 p.m. at Thornsberry Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Eaton officiating.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Duane Baskin, Clifford Casey, David Casey, Nettie Davis, Howard Ferguson, Roger Gunem, Jim McCoy, and John Taylor.
