Ten great-grandchildren, Kristian Abiassi, Corey White, Jackson and Eli Patchell, and Joseph, Annie, Noel, Rio, Natalie and Noah Morales, also survive her. She is survived by her brothers, Bruch Stair and wife, Claudine, and Richard Stair of Heber Springs, her sisters, Joyce McMillan of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Lynda Stair of St. Louis, Missouri, mother-in-law Bernice Patchell, of Heber Springs, brother-in-law , George Patchell, of Midland, Texas, many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends.
Betty was an accomplished pianist at a very early age under the tutelage of Mrs. Edna Barnett and organist for the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs at the age 15. This would be the beginning of a 50-year career as a church organist and music director for many churches across the state of Texas. She served the Conroe, Texas Bible Study Fellowship Women’s Group as pianist for fourteen years. Most recently she was the accompanist for the Sweetheart Chorus in the Woodlands, Texas. She was also a piano teacher throughout her career and was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She made sure that her love of music was passed on to future generations through her daughter and two granddaughters.
Betty was also a 7-handicap golfer and a member of the Ladies Golf Association in the Woodlands, Texas. For over 20 years she assisted pro-golfers in the Shell Open Golf tournament held annually.
Additionally, Betty was a wonderful artist in oil and watercolor painting. Many of her paintings grace the homes of family members and friends. She had a flair for interior decorating and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and her family. Her style and grace will be missed by many friends and acquaintances across Texas, but her family will miss her most of all.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Martin, Stan Abiassi, Jason Patchell, Mark Morales, Bruce Stair and Scott Horner.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to other family members and friends as well to all doctors, nurses, and hospitals that compassionately cared for our Mimi. Especially the staff, who were exdpecially compassionate during her last days at Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab Center.
