Thomas H. Slavens, 89, of Bonanza died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in a local hospital. He was a retired auto and truck mechanic, a member of Midland Assembly of God and an Army veteran.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith with burial at Barling City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters, Alta Sabatucci of Sugar Loaf Lake, Joyce Boster of Cameron and Rose Moon of Bonanza; six sons, James, Thomas and Robert Slavens, all of Fort Smith, Cecil Slavens of Hackett, and Walter and Frankie Slavens, both of Bonanza; a sister, Betty Farrar of Fort Smith; four brothers, Frank Slavens of Wichita Falls, Texas, Charlie Slavens of Skiatook, Okla., Chester Slavens of Midland and Albert Slavens of Poteau; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jimmy Boster, Arliss, David, Jay and Marcus Slavens, Richie, Joel and Aaron Sabatucci.

Helen F. Slavens, 86, of Bonanza, AR, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 in a local hospital.
She was a retired florist, a homemaker and a member of the Life N Christ Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Slavens and one daughter, Christine.
She is survived by three daughters, Alta Sabatucci and her husband Rick of Sugar Loaf Lake, AR, Joyce Boster and her husband Curtis of Cameron, OK and Reverend Rose Mary Moon and her husband T.J. of Bonanza, AR; six sons, James Slavens and his wife Phyllis, Thomas Slavens and his wife Cecile, Robert Slavens and his wife Eila all of Fort Smith, Reverend Joe Slavens and his wife Ruth of Jonesboro, Walter Slavens and his wife Gloria of Bonanza and Frankie Slavens of Bonanza; 25 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Arliss David, Marcus and Jay Slavens, Jimmy and C.J. Boster.
Pastor and friend Danny Kennedy will officiate the service.
