The body of Henry J. Hawks, 65 years old, a widely-known salesman of feed and flour, was found dead in a garage at the home of Willard Riggs, his nephew, on South Fourth street about 6:30 o'clock Friday evening from the effects of a self-administered poison. Coroner Leon Wasson of Siloam Springs viewed the body Friday night and declared that evidences of suicide did not warrant a formal inquest. The discovery was made by Jim Riggs as he drove to the garage to put up the Wardrobe cleaners' truck for the night. A physician was called and it was said Mr. Hawks apparently had been dead two or three hours. A glass containing traces of poison was found near the body. Mr. Hawks was said to have been in a despondent mood for several weeks due to serious financial reverses, poor business conditions and ill health. He had been in poor health for the last two years. He was a native of Mississippi but had been a resident of Rogers for the last 12 years, traveling a territory in this section for a flour and feed manufacturing company. Funeral services were held at Central Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the pastor, the Rev. Conner Morehead, officiating. Burial was in the Rogers cemetery with A.D. Callison in charge. Mr. Hawks is survived by his widow; one son, Werner; one sister, Mrs. John L. Bishop, Stillwater, Okla. and a brother, R.E. Hawks, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

HAWKS, Henry J. - Funeral services were held at the Central M.E. Church in Rogers Sunday afternoon for Henry J. Hawks who was found dead in the garage of a relative late Friday afternoon. A glass containing poisoning, it is said, was found beside him. Coroner Leon Wasson of Siloam Springs, who was called, said an inquest was unnecessary as evidence of suicide did not warrant it. Mr. Hawks was about 54 years of age and had lived in Rogers 12 years. He was quite well known and was a salesman for a flour and feed company. He is survived by his widow and a son, Werner Hawks. He had been in poor health for some time and had worried a great deal over financial losses which, it is said, caused him to do the deed.
