Rev. R.J. Hawks died at his home at Springtown Sunday, Jan. 16 after an illness of several months. The deceased was 60 years of age and has been a resident of the county for many years, coming here from Kansas. For several years he resided in Gentry, during which time he was manager for the Telephone Co. He has been at Springtown for the past five years, engaged in conducting a general store. Mr. Hawks had a large circle of friends on account of his cheerful disposition, his standing as a citizen and his high christian character. He always appeared to have a high sense of justice and a desire to do good to everybody. The many friends of the family sympathize with them in their deep sorrow.
