Mary Helen Simmonds, of Oxford, daughter of the late George Brickham and Nora Reynolds Brickham, was born April 30, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. She died August 24, 2014 at her home, at the age of 94 years 3 months and 25 days.

She was united in marriage to Charles Joseph Simmonds. To this union, four children were born. They were married thiry-five years when he died April 17, 1974. She was employed by Nabisco Baking Company in Chicago as a chefs supervisor for thirty-five plus years. She was a member of the Oxford Methodist/Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Simmonds of Batesville; grandchildren, Alida Mohlke and husband Jason of Violet Hill, and Pete Murphy and wife of Sarah of Jonesboro; four great-grandchildren, Trevor Murphy, Mallory Murphy, Ethan Mohlke, and Lane Mohlke. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Margaret Berry, sons, Dennis Simmonds, and Charles Simmonds; great-granddaughter, Cameryn Mohlke; four sister; and her father and mother.

Services are Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11 am at Cox-Blevins Chapel with burial to follow in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Visitation is Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at Cox-Blevins Chapel. Pallbearers are Jason Mohlke, Leroy Mohlke, Ethan Mohlke, Trevor Murphy, Rusty Shaver, and Pete Murphy. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
