SPRINGDALE — Virgil J. Bewley, 80, of Springdale died April 21, 2004, in Springdale. He was born May 15, 1923, in Dardanelle to Enick B. and Ollie Bell Ewton Bewley. He was a Christian and was a truck driver for Jones Truck Lines for 42 years. He was preceded in death by three children, Peggy Watson, David Bewley and Tim Bewley.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Goheen Bewley of the home; his children, James Bewley and wife Vicki of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Isaac and husband Dennis of Spriredale, Phillip Bewley and wife Sally of Springdale, Betty Caskey and husband Dutch of Rogers, Larry Bewley of Springdale, Ramona Norris and husband Rocky of Springdale; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Almond of Russellville; one half brother, James Ed Bewley of Bald Knob.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bluff Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Walker officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.
Freda
June 17, 1925 - January 6, 2010
Freda Lorrine Bewley & Virgil James Bewley.
They were married December 29, 1941. Together they had eight children and raised a granddaughter. We lived at 108 N. Harris St. most of our life. Later daddy bought a house at 104 S.W. End and this is where he lived until his death. Daddy passed away April 21, 2004 and Mother passed away January 6, 2010 in Springdale.
Both from Probable Myocardial Infarction.
Virgil was a Truck Driver for Jones Truck Lines until his retirement. He was eighty years old when he passed away. He had one sister, Louise Almand of Russellville and a half brother James Ed Bewley of Pottsville, Arkansas. Freda had one half sister Theda Mae Cook, which passed away April 1, 1988 from cancer.
Freda's parents were Harold Clyde Goheen and Esther Helen Fink. Her husband was Virgil James Bewley, together they had eight children, James Harold, Peggy Ann Bewley Watson, David Eugene, Mary Virginia Bewley Isaac, Phillip Dwayne, Timothy Mark, Betty Louise Bewley Caskey and Larry Michael. They also raised a granddaughter Ramona Gail Bewley Norris.
